[Book Tag] Coffee... hmm, I Just Love Their Smell

Siapa yang ngga suka kopi hayoo? Negara kita mungkin bukan coffee addict banget semacam Amerika, tapi saya yakin mayoritas penduduk Indonesia pasti minum kopi. Hayolah langsung dimulai aja.

1. Black: Name a series that's tough to get into but has hardcore fans.
Jujur? The Lord of The Rings dan Harry Potter. Aku sempet pengen baca The Lord of The Rings, udah sampe chapter berapa ya waktu itu, pokoknya belum terlalu jauh lah tapi nyerah. Aku ngga bisa ngebayangin duniannya Tolkien, imajinasiku ngga nyampe. Terus aku juga belum selesai baca Harry Potter, udah sampe buku tiga, tapi belum diterusin, agak-agak males, soalnya udah tahu ceritanya kayak apa, jadi ngga surprise lagi, akhirnya keinginanku buat baca juga cuma ala kadarnya. Terus ada satu lagi buku yang punya banyak fans tapi aku belum baca, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Berrrkali kali nyoba baca dan gagal. Selalu ngantuk, kayaknya aku kastanya beda sama Austen :p

[Book Tag] Twilight Saga (and movies)

Ngga tau siapa yang bikin, males nyari sampe ke akarnya, anyway, let's get started.

1. What movie and book is your favorite?
Kalau untuk filmnya aku mungkin paling suka Breaking Dawn Part II, paling keren aja menurutku. Sementara untuk bukunya aku lebih milih Twilight, aku suka bagian waktu mereka pertama kali ketemu, waktu pertama kali deket, waktu pertama kali saling jujur, romantis banget. Seandainya film Twilight sebagus bukunya mungkin film favoritku di Twilight Saga bakalan jadi Twilight juga. Sayangnya aku ngga suka banget sama film Twilight, banyak banget adegan yang dipotong soalnya.

[Blabering] Opini Bareng BBI: Karakter Tokoh Utama

A likeable character in a book is absolute for me.

Like, buat apa tetep dibaca kalau kita bahkan ngga suka sama orangnya. I don't like you, so I don't care if anything happens to you (aku kejam, memang). SO STOP! Life is short enough already without you make it any shorter by reading useless things.

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

[Random] Ask Marissa Meyer

Selamat menjelang Valentine kawan-kawan! Ngga terasa udah pertengahan Februari aja. Oh iya, ada yang tahu tentang The Lunar Chronicles karyanya Marrisa Meyer? Nah, baru-baru ini Meyer meluncurkan buku terbaru berjudul Fairest. Buku ini bukan buku utama seri Lunar, cuma sebagai selingan, aku belum baca sih (ceritanya tentang Levana soalnya) tapi ada rencana buat baca.

Anyway, merayakan peluncuran buku terbarunya Meyer mengadakan Q&A di goodreads dan jawabannya keluar kemarin. Finally.

I would say it's so important to know WHY they're bad. It can be tempting to make a villain evil-for-the-sake-of-evil, but that's not very interesting. Ask yourself what happened in their past to make them the way that they are, and what are their motivations for doing the things that they do? Some famous writer (I don't know who...) once said that the villain believes they are the hero of the story, and I think it's important to keep that in mind.

Levana was one of the first characters I thought of when I decided to write a series of sci-fi fairy tale retellings, and I've long been fascinated by the evil queen from Snow White. I always wanted to know what would make a woman place so much value on her beauty that she would do horrible, unspeakable things just to stay the "Fairest of them all." So Levana's story has really been building in my head from the very beginning when I started writing this series.
Then as I was working on Winter, I found myself getting stuck on scenes that involved Levana and her relationships to Winter and Selene, so I decided to pause and write Levana's story. Once I gave it a chance, her story came pouring out of me, and I learned so much about her and made so many connections that I hadn't put together yet. It was definitely time to put her story on paper! And it did help me get past all those places that were giving me trouble in Winter, too, so it worked out really great. I'm just glad my publisher actually wanted to publish it, ha!

Dari Q&A kemarin juga aku baru tahu kalau Little Android itu based on Little Mermaid, kalau dipikir-pikir iya juga sih. Nuansa sedihnya sama.

Terus lucu juga waktu Meyer bilang kalau dia selalu nulis karakternya lagi di mana, kondisinya kayak apa, sama lagi ngapain biar ngga lupa. Termasuk type A nih berarti mbak Meyer, harus ditulis biar ngga lupa.

ikutan harap-harap cemas..

Ngga ngerti sih kenapa dia nanyain ini, tapi yah kan bebas mau nanya apa aja, yekan?

sad. but I'll find my way.

jadi pengen baca Bluebeard.

Sekalian aku juga pengin berbagi fanart The Lunar Chronicles nih, terus kalian kenal Joo Ji Hoon ngga? Yang jadi Lee Shin di Princess Hours? Dia pernah dinobatkan sebagai dream cast buat Prince Kai loh. Mentang-mentang dia jadi pangeran di Princess Hours. Anyway, here they are.

An action-packed, blood-soaked, futuristic debut thriller set in a world where the murder rate is higher than the birthrate. For fans of Moira Young’s Dust Lands series, La Femme Nikita, and the movie Hanna.
