An action-packed, blood-soaked, futuristic debut thriller set in a world where the murder rate is higher than the birthrate. For fans of Moira Young’s Dust Lands series, La Femme Nikita, and the movie Hanna.

Meadow Woodson, a fifteen-year-old girl who has been trained by her father to fight, to kill, and to survive in any situation, lives with her family on a houseboat in Florida. The state is controlled by The Murder Complex, an organization that tracks the population with precision.

The plot starts to thicken when Meadow meets Zephyr James, who is—although he doesn’t know it—one of the MC’s programmed assassins. Is their meeting a coincidence? Destiny? Or part of a terrifying strategy? And will Zephyr keep Meadow from discovering the haunting truth about her family?

Action-packed, blood-soaked, and chilling, this is a dark and compelling debut novel by Lindsay Cummings.

It is the key to survival, the key to life.

I am murderously disappointed in this book.

1. The Science
Well, I wouldn't say anything about mind control, especially in a man-made human -which extremely beyond ethical rules in science world-, but think about this, if your cells can regenerate themselves whenever they broke, or died, will you ever get old? As in old like adult and old like grand’s? I'd say no. You would stay young as in teens forever, what a life right? And if that's the case, I wouldn't say anything about this sentence either. "No one dies, Meadow". But honestly, people in this book are getting older and older means that they will die, eventually. So they don't have to create The Murder Complex, right? Just because they won't have any disease anymore, doesn't mean they will live forever. Scientific immortals? You gotta be kidding me.

2. The Romance
Let's see, what would you do if someone tried to kill you repeatedly, but you manage to escape only to get crossed path again with him? I would run, or kill him when I have the chance. But it's a no no for Meadow, she has to like him, he who tried to KILL HER! Gah!
Another question, if you're already aware that you become a monster at night, will you take your lovely girl to place without any other people at sunset? Normal people wouldn't right? But Z would apparently. And no matter how many times people tell me that the romance in this book is amazing or butterflying or fluttering every part of my body, I'll only puke when I remember the two of them together. The insta-love in this book is murderously disgusting. Like how could you fall in love with your killer that fast? And may I point out that he is pathetic? And again, a crazy grinner? A psychotic walking around the street?

3. The Characters
They wouldn't exactly point out in words that they are self-centered, but their actions would. The two main characters are only thinking about themselves without considering other people's feeling, or life.

4. The Murder
Does she really kill someone because he reluctantly jumps out of train? Err, a moving train?! And does she really kill him when he's about to jump like SHE AKSED HIM TO?! And does he really have to kill someone just because of ONE noise?! It's not even a riot, just a single grieve-scream and he just kills him?!

5. The Plot
It's stupid.
Creating a cure for human only to have them killed by none other than the cure creator.

And for someone who loved this book, I'm sorry if you get to read my review, but I'm not sorry at all for saying any of those. Well, I have the rights to speak, as much as I have the rights to live.

"Until they rip us apart, and even then, I'll fight.”
